World Bog Snorkelling Championship Mud Sprint

Swim a flooded peat trench in mask, snorkel, and flippers, with no normal front crawl allowed. It is messy, silly, and much harder to do quickly than it looks.

  • Set in the self-proclaimed smallest town in Britain.
  • Real ale bar, live music, and food stalls on site.

Planning Steps

  2. Travel to Llanwrtyd Wells in mid-Wales. Train station on the Heart of Wales line.
  3. Bring snorkel, mask, and flippers.
  4. Practice swimming without conventional strokes โ€” only leg propulsion or doggy paddle.

Pro tip

Wear a full-body wetsuit โ€” bog water is 10-14C even in August, and visibility is zero.
