Highlights
- The race starts with a jump from a car ferry into the Hardangerfjord at dawn, with water temperatures between 10–15°C.
- The 180 km bike course includes over 3,000 meters of climbing through Norwegian highland terrain.
- The marathon finishes with a steep hike to the summit of Mount Gaustatoppen at 1,883 meters.
- Only the top finishers earn a black t-shirt by reaching the summit. All others finish at the lower checkpoint with a white shirt.
- Support crew logistics are as demanding as the race itself — crew members drive the course, manage nutrition, and pace the final mountain climb.
