Highlights

  • A 10,000+ mile unsupported drive from Europe to Central Asia in a car that was never designed for the job.
  • No set route, no backup vehicles, no professional support. You solve every problem — mechanical, logistical, and navigational — yourself.
  • The car must be 1.3 liters or smaller, which means constant mechanical improvisation on roads ranging from highways to goat tracks.
  • Border crossings through the Caucasus, Iran, or Central Asian states are adventures in themselves, requiring paperwork, patience, and cultural flexibility.
  • The rally finishes with a party in Kazakhstan, where teams celebrate survival as much as arrival.

Planning Steps

  1. Register your team through The Adventurists website. The 2026 rally entry fee is £895 per car. Teams can include as many people as legally fit in the vehicle.
  2. Source a car with an engine no larger than 1.3 liters (1300cc). The smaller and less reliable the vehicle, the more it fits the rally spirit.
  3. Secure all necessary visas well in advance. The route crosses multiple countries, and visa processing can take weeks depending on nationality.
  4. Fundraise a minimum of £500 for Cool Earth, the rally's official charity. Additional funds can go to other registered charities.
  5. Plan your route from the start near Prague to the finish in Far East Kazakhstan. There is no set route — you navigate border crossings, breakdowns, and bad roads yourself.
Pro tip

Learn basic car repair before departure: oil changes, tire swaps, fan belt replacement, and radiator fixes. The most common rally-ending problems are simple mechanical failures that any prepared team can fix roadside.
